Pada kuliah hari ini, Puan Zakiah memulakan pembelajaran yang bertajuk Pengenalan Komputer. Dengan ini, Puan bermula dengan bertanya apakah sistem rangkaian? Sistem Rangkaian Komputer (Computer Networking) merupakan satu sistem komputer yang mengandungi dua atau lebih komputer yang dihubungkan di antara satu sama lain melalui sistem pengoperasian yang selaras walaupun komputer-komputer tersebut berada di tempat-tempat yang berbeza.

Soalan-soalan yang ditayangkan dalam powerpoint ialah:-
~What is computer literacy?
-Knowledge and understanding of computers and their uses.
-Computer are everywhere in terms of being widely used around the world.

~How is a computer defined?
-Electronic device operating under the control of instructions stored in it own memory.
Accepts data----> Process data----> Produces and stores data

~What is the information processing cycle?
Input-->Output-->process-->storage-->Communication

~Input device means:
Hardware used to enter data and instructions

~Output device means:
Hardware that conveys information

~System Unit?
Box-like case containing electronic components used to process data

The Components of a Computer
Two main components on the motherboard:
- Central Processing Unti (CPU)
Also called a processor, cames out instructions that tell computer what to do.
-Memory
Temporary holding place for data and instructions.
~RAM(Random Access Memory)-volatile
~ROM(Read Only Memory)- non- volatile

Storage?
Haolds data, instructions and informations for future use.
>Storage media- Physical material on which data, instructions and information are stored.
>Storage device- Records and retrieves items and storage medium

What is storage media?
Portable, thin memory cards used in:
examples: Digital camera and Handheld Computer

Storage device
=> records and retrieves items from storage medium

--Floppy disk, Flash drive, Hard disk 

Compact disc?

=>flat, round, portable metal disc

examples: CD-ROW, CD-RW, DVD-ROM

WHAT MAKES A COMPUTER USEFUL?

Storage, Realibility and consistency, Speed, Accuracy, Communications

Network

- Collection of computer and devices connected together

Communication device

- Enables a connection between computers-one type is a modem or router

Communication media

- Cables, telephone lines, cellular radio, satellite, microwave  

Server

-Manage the resources in a network

-A client access the resources on the server

Internet( International Network)

- Worldwide collection of networks that connects millions of computers
